Microcement Stairs Ireland
Transform timber, concrete or tiled stairs with seamless microcement. Durable, anti-slip and visually continuous with your floor.
Microcement Stairs in Ireland
The staircase is one of the most design-visible elements of any Irish home. Microcement stairs transform an often overlooked structural feature into a genuine architectural statement. The same material you use on your hallway floor can flow seamlessly onto the stairs, treads, risers and landing, creating a continuous aesthetic that feels considered and premium.
Cementec microcement is applied directly over existing wooden stairs, concrete stairs or tiled stairs — no removal, no structural work and minimal disruption to the home. A typical staircase can be completed in 2-3 days.
For a seamless visual flow throughout your home, see our microcement hallway page and our microcement floors page.
Why Microcement on Stairs?
Seamless Continuation
Carry the same microcement from your hallway floor up each tread and onto the landing. No change of material, no threshold strip.
Over Existing Stairs
No need to remove existing timber, tiles or concrete. Microcement goes directly over sound existing stairs, saving time and cost.
Extremely Durable
Sealed microcement withstands heavy stair traffic. Edge protection profiles protect the nosing — the highest-wear point.
Anti-Slip Standard
An anti-slip additive is incorporated into the stair sealant as standard, providing a safe walking surface.
All Stair Types
Straight flights, dog-leg stairs and spiral stairs can all be finished in microcement, each with specific application considerations.
Easy to Maintain
Sealed microcement stairs clean easily with a damp mop or cloth. No carpet to vacuum, no timber to refinish.
Nosing Treatment and Edge Protection
The nosing — the front edge of each stair tread — is the highest-wear point on any staircase. An aluminium or stainless steel edge protection profile is fitted to every tread before applying the microcement. The profile sits flush with the finished surface, providing an invisible but effective edge guard.
For additional safety, an anti-slip additive is always mixed into the floor sealant for stair treads. See our microcement slip resistance page for more detail.
