Microcement Tools and Equipment
Everything a professional microcement applicator needs. Tools, consumables, PPE and ancillary products available from Cementec Ireland.
Essential Tools for Professional Microcement Application
The quality of a microcement finish depends as much on the tools used as on the skill of the applicator. Using the wrong tools — incorrect trowel material, too-fast mixer speed, inadequate sanding equipment — leads to visible defects in the finished surface that are difficult or impossible to remedy without full resurfacing. Cementec Ireland supplies all the tools and consumables required for professional microcement installation.
The core tool requirement for microcement application is a set of high-quality stainless steel trowels. Stainless steel is essential — mild steel trowels will rust and contaminate the microcement with metallic staining. A range of sizes is needed: a larger 30-40cm trowel for scratch coat application across larger areas, and one or two smaller trowels in the 20-25cm range for finish coats, corners and detail work. Japanese-style flexible finishing trowels are popular among experienced applicators for their ability to produce an ultra-smooth finish coat.
For mixing, a slow-speed drill mixer (600rpm or less) with a paddle attachment prevents air introduction that causes surface pitting. Adequate dust extraction is essential during sanding stages — both for the quality of the work environment and for the health and safety of the applicator. A HEPA dust extractor connected to a suitable sanding block is the correct setup. All PPE should be maintained in good condition and replaced regularly.
